Maybe “Fame” was erected for all the wrong reasons back in 1909, but that was over 100 years ago and times have changed. Progress has been made.

I know we are not out of the woods, but I just can’t believe most blacks and whites when looking at “Fame” feel offended, sickened or long for the good ol’ days.

“Fame” is not a celebration. She is not a call for the return of segregation, discrimination or slavery. She is a symbol of a part of our history, good or bad. She is a reminder of where we’ve been, where we are and where we need to go.

“Fame” should stay right where she is.
