Catawba College addresses cuts to budget, personnel
I will give it to Catawba. They do have a handful of remarkable faculty, and a few hardworking staff members. Sadly, the leadership of Catawba absolutely fails the faculty, staff and the students.
If you disagree, ask around. Ask recent former students of Catawba or recent alumni of Catawba about their experience.

My turn, Rodney Queen: Ordinance must change …
Salisbury, please don’t follow Concord on new housing.
We (Concord) give out building permits like candy at Halloween. Our roads are clogged, Infrastructure is in shambles and, yet, we still handing out permits. What comes with growth is not what anyone wants other then the tax money for our leaders to constantly spend on crazy projects.
— Grant Eagle

Hotwire to offer new income-based bundle, open store downtown
The problem is that the city pays for every install that Hotwire does. Hotwire can charge anything if there is no cost to them. It just gets laid at the feet of the taxpayer.

… More details on proposed purchase of Yadkin dams owner
How ironic that citizens were divided over whether the dam and High Rock’s undeveloped shoreline should be owned by private industry or the state.
Now, two years later the winner (private industry) decided to sell the dam and undeveloped shoreline to a company owned by the government of Ontario.

Plenty to be offended by other than ‘Fame’
I get so “offended” whenever someone is so “offended” they must tell everybody. Please do not let my comment “offend” you. Thank you.
— Larry Craver
Outstanding article. There are too many people making a career of telling others why they should be offended. Their objective of course is to sow division, knowing a house divided cannot stand.
— Tim Deal
… Establish local chapter of national Veterans Party
Why not have no political parties? The ones we have demand loyalty to the respective party instead of the nation as a whole.

As municipal filing nears, candidates weigh whether to run
Regardless of where I may stand on the issues, I am grateful for those who are willing to serve as local government elected officials.
It is often a thankless job, with little or no compensation and lots of time away from work and family.
— Jeff Morris
