CHAPEL HILL — Joshua Martin, of Pinehurst, shot a blistering 6-under par 66 here Sunday to win the 105th Carolinas Amateur Championship at the Governors Club.

Two local college players, Michael Childress of Salisbury (Richmond) and Davis Richards of China Grove (N.C. State), finished strong, respectively.

Childress, a Cannon School graduate, carded a 1-over par 73 on Sunday, moving up three spots, from 20th to 17th. He had gotten as high as 11th after the second round on Friday.

Richards, a South Rowan High School grad, shot a 2-over 74, moving up one place, to 37th.
