The Old Time Preachers Quartet

Haircuts and Hairdos

Bishop Ronald Hash pastor’s anniversary
EAST SPENCER — The 26th pastor’s anniversary for Bishop Ronald and Lotis Hash will be Sunday at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St.
The 10 a.m. speaker is Bishop J.C. Hash, pastor of St. Peter’ World Outreach Center and Church, Winston Salem. As a pastor, inspirational speaker, motivator and author whose message challenges people to see themselves as the leaders God created them to be, Dr. J James C. Hash Sr. is a man on a mission straight from God. As senior pastor and chief executive officer of the 3,500-plus member, multi-cultural St. Peter’s Church and World Outreach Center (SPWOC) in Winston-Salem, NC, Dr. Hash, along with his wife Joyce, delivers a positive message of strength and hope, encouraging people to strive for success in every area of life—spirit, soul and body.

Active in the community, she is a member of the North Carolina Chaplaincy Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the One Church One Child Program which partners with the Rowan County Department of Social Services. Dr. Starks is also a member of the Salisbury Interdenominational Minister’s Fellowship and serves on the Board of Directors. She is the former Chairman of the Program Services Committee for the New Tomorrows program sponsored through Rowan Helping Ministries. She served for 10 years as an Associate Chaplain at Rowan Regional Medical Center and has served on various other Boards. Rabbi Dr. Andrew Vogel Ettin will be the guest speaker Sunday at the 12:30 p.m. service at Piedmont UU Church, located at Temple Israel, 1600 Brenner Ave., across from the VA Hospital.
The theme is justice. Commitments to justice and righteousness stand at the center of Jewish ethical teachings. We learn, however, not only from precepts and parables but from experience, from negative examples as much as positive ones. Rabbi Ettin will explore some personal examples and encounters shaping his perspective on Jewish teachings about justice.
Rabbi Ettin has been the spiritual leader of Temple Israel since 1990. He is also Professor Emeritus of English at Wake Forest University and Adjunct Professor of Religion and Divinity at WFU. He was formerly a professor at Cornell University. He is committed to interfaith and interracial activities as well as women’s issues. An alumnus of Rutgers College (A.B.), Washington University (M.A., Ph.D.) and Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies (M.S.J.S.), Dr. Ettin was ordained as a rabbi by Aleph: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. He is the author of four published books in addition to numerous articles; a fifth book is in progress.
