Outstanding Young Church Women honored

Salisbury Rowan Church Women United honored Outstanding Young Church Women at Trinity Presbyterian Church at a Celebration Luncheon on May 3.

The women honored were: Leslie Dent, First United Church of Christ; Kayla Caldwell, Soldier’s Memorial AME Zion; Julianne K. Goodman, Sacred Heart Catholic; Candid Rankin, St. Luke Baptist; Joy Michelle Sparks Alston, White Rock AME Zion; Aftin Murdock, Sandy Ridge AME Zion; Kellie Staples Brentnell, Milford Hills United Methodist.

More than 100 ladies and men attended the Celebration from 10 different denominations. Rev. Dr. Barbara Hart spoke on the theme, The Time is Now! Agree to Differ. Donations were made to the Good Shepherd Clinic.

The next meeting of Church Women United will be the Human Rights Celebration on Friday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. at First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S. Long St. Mayor Al Heggins will be the guest speaker. The Ecumenical Actions project will be school school supplies for Communities in Schools. Everyone is welcome.
