GRANITE QUARRY — The Granite Quarry Board of Aldermen has scheduled a called meeting at 3:30 p.m. today at Town Hall to discuss a funding resolution on U.S. 52 curb and sidewalk improvements.

The proposed resolution asks the N.C. General Assembly to earmark discretionary funds for curb and sidewalk improvements along U.S. 52 from Church to Depot streets.

The town wants to make the improvements in conjunction with the repaving of U.S. 52 through the central business district.

At today’s meeting, the board also will talk about the process in the months ahead of choosing a new town manager. Larry Smith has been serving as interim manager.

In a closed session, the board will do annual performance reviews for the town clerk and town manager, as well as discuss a proposed lease agreement with the Granite Quarry Athletic Club on property the town owns on Faith Road and an offer to purchase town property at 316 S. Main St.
