Organ concert
Henry Lebedinsky, organist, will be in concert Sunday at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St.
A native of Russia, Lebedinsky holds degrees in historical keyboard performance from Bowdoin College and the Longy School of Music.
An active performer on organ, harpsichord and clavichord, he has given numerous performances in this country and abroad. He is in demand as a harpsichord and organ teacher and has led workshops on historical improvisation and performance practice at the New England Conservatory, Davidson College, Appalachian State University and Boston University.He is organist and director of music at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson, where he is also artistic director of the Music at St. Alban’s concert series.
Lebedinksy will play a program of Bach, Brosig, Bruhns, Gigout, Kuusisto, Taneyev and Zipolli. The concert is free and open to the public.
Gethsemane Baptist
This Sunday at 4 p.m., Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church celebrates their 83rd church anniversary.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Eric Ellis, pastor of Philippian Community Church of North Carolina in Raleigh.
His ushers, choir and congregation will accompany him.
Ellis is the founder, visionary and leader of Philippian Community Church of NC, which airs a weekly television broadcast. He has spent more than 20 years in ministry.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 930 S. Main St., will hold a special Thanksgiving Eve service Wednesday, at 7 p.m., officiated by the Rev Candis Burgess. All are welcome to attend.
Everyone attending is asked to bring one non-perishable food item to be donated to Rowan Helping Ministries.
Jerusalem Baptist
Jerusalem Baptist Church will celebrate Deacon, Deaconess and Trustee Day this Sunday during their 11 a.m. service.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Haywood Gray of Raleigh, executive secretary/treasurer of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
Special music will be provided by Jerusalem’s combined choirs under the direction of Keith Holland, minister of music.

Mt. Zion Baptist
Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury is hosting its annual community Thanksgiving Day worship on Nov. 26 at 10 a.m., at the Mount Zion Worship and Ministry Center, 1920 Shirley Ave. off Jake Alexander Boulevard and Clancy Street.
Bishop Harvey Rice, pastor of Mount Calvary Holy Church of Salisbury, will deliver the message. The music ministry and congregation of Mount Calvary will accompany him.
The Devotional Praise Team ministries of Mount Calvary, Mount Zion and other area churches will lead devotional praise. Dr. Nilous M. Avery II is host pastor and will lead the worship of praise, celebration and adoration.
Dress is casual and everyone is asked to bring canned goods and/or non-perishable food items, which will be distributed to local helping agencies to assist families in need.

New Beginning
KANNAPOLIS ó Services are being held at New Beginning Church, 1124 Thomas Ave., to recognize Bishop and Evangelist Roseman’s seventh pastoral anniversary.
A service was held the evening of Nov. 19 with Pastor W. Brown of Written Epistles Church of Jesus Christ, Charlotte.
Today at 7:30 p.m., the speaker will be Apostle S. Gillespie from Tabernacle of Joy in Mooresville. At 3 p.m. on Nov. 22, the speaker will be Bishop R. Mungro of St. John Holiness Church, Newton.

Landis community Thanksgiving service
The Landis Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church this Sunday at 7 p.m. Participating churches are: First Reformed, First United Methodist, Landis First Assembly of God, Sandy Ridge AME Zion, Trinity Lutheran and Mt. Moriah Lutheran.
An offering will be taken for the Main Street Mission in China Grove. A reception will follow the service and everyone is invited.
Faith Lutheran
Faith Lutheran Church, 205 S. Main St., will sponsor a Family Christmas Extravaganza on Dec. 5, an evening of fun for the whole family.
The theme will be “The Gingerbread Boy.” At 5 p.m. there will be gingerbread building, with participants creating one-of-a-kind gingerbread houses while listening to stories told by retired teacher Daisy Bost and retired media specialist, Ginger Smith.
At 6 p.m., a dinner theater will begin in the church family life center. Adults will have a steak dinner with all the trimmings and children a chicken nugget plate.
Following the meal will be a performance of “The Gingerbread Boy” by traveling theatre troupe “Rags to Riches,” which pulls stories from history, literature and fantasy. The performance includes music, laughter and improvisation and audience participation.

Faith Thanksgiving
The Faith community Thanksgiving service will be at Shiloh Reformed Church 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Rev. Clarence Sifford Jr., pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, will bring the message. He will be assisted by the Rev. Joe Smith, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, and the Rev. Wayne Trexler, pastor of Shiloh Reformed Church.
Special music will be provided by the Shiloh handbell choir and Celebration Choir. An offering will be received for Rowan Helping Ministries.
Breakfast with Santa
Reservations are due by Dec. 1 for “Breakfast with Santa” at First United Methodist Church, to be held 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5.
There will be a light breakfast, crafts and pictures taken with Santa.
The cost is $5 per person and $15 maximum per family. The church is located at 217 S. Church St. in Salisbury.

Community service
The congregations of Prospect Presbyterian, Centenary Methodist and Concordia Lutheran Churches invite the public to a community Thanksgiving service this Sunday at 7 p.m. at Prospect Presbyterian Church located on Highway 152.
A joint choir of the three churches will sing. The sacrament of The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. The Rev. Ken Reed of Concordia Lutheran will preach.
A time of refreshment for all in attendance will be provided in the fellowship hall after the worship service. The public is invited.

Ivan Parker performs
Southside Baptist Church, 500 Morlan Park Rd., presents gospel artist Ivan Parker at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2. Doors will open 5 p.m.
Parker is taking the country by storm with numerous appearances on national television and guest appearances on the Bill and Gloria Gaither Homecoming Video Series.
Although young, Parker is a veteran in the gospel music industry. He was voted Favorite Male Vocalist seven years consecutively, 1989 to 1995, and again in 2006 and 2007, and Favorite Lead Vocalist for six consecutive years for the southern gospel Singing News Fans Awards.
