A holiday tree will be lit Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. on the Davidson Campus of Davidson County Community College.
DCCC President Mary Rittling will lead the countdown as the white lights on the campus are illuminated. New this year is a living holiday tree that will be decorated with white lights; also lit are numerous campus shrubs and trees. The 12-foot Norway Spruce from the North Carolina mountains was transplanted in its new home on Oct 23.
Each year, the lighting ceremony will mark the growth of the holiday tree as it becomes taller and more prominent in its location near the newly configured Main Campus Entrance on Old Greensboro Road.
The Rich Fork Baptist Church Carolers will entertain guests. Children’s activities include a holiday story reading by Dr. Mark Branson, dean of arts, sciences and education.Refreshments of cookies and hot wassail will be served. For more information, call 336-249-8186.
