Lighting the big spruce on the front lawn at Catawba College isan annual event that kicks off the Christmas holidays in a festive campus atmosphere.
Sponsored by Catawba’s Student Government Association, various clubs, the music department and the President’s Office, this year’s event featured Santa, who arrived by “special delivery,” a campfire for roasting hot dogs and making s’mores, Christmas songs sing-along and entertainment by the Catawba Wind Ensemble.
While Santa was busy hearing Christmas wish lists from students’, faculty and staff children and grandchildren, Christmas cookie decorating and Christmas ornament crafts were available in the Student Center.
