Carson’s girls tennis team won 5-4 over Cox Mill on Monday.
Jadyn Kirkpatrick, Carleigh Perry and Riley Isley won in singles for the Cougars (3-0).
Maci Cooper/Kirpatrick and Keeley Watson/Isley prevailed in doubles.
Carson lost three singles matches on third-set tiebreakers.
HS boys soccer
South Rowan won 8-1 against North Hills on Monday.
Jordi Cortez scored two goals, while Santos Lopez, Zander Efird, Cam Phillips, Parker Anderson and Tony Zempoaltecatl had one each for the Raiders (2-1).

West Rowan lost 3-2 to Northwest Cabarrus on Monday.
Luis Vasquez scored on a PK. Michael Leon scored on a free kick.
Chris Mercado made 11 saves for the Falcons.

Jesus Ordonez scored for East Rowan in a 5-1 loss to Oak Grove on Monday.

HS volleyball
Carson (2-0) swept Mount Pleasant on Monday.

North Rowan (1-2) was swept by Thomasville in a non-conference matchup on Monday.

Robinson edged East Rowan 3-2 on Monday.
East won the third and fourth sets to even the match, but the Bulldogs took the fifth set 15-9.
Rowan Little League
Rowan Little League registrations are being taken for fall baseball and softball at Godley’s Garden Center on Statesville Boulevard through Friday, Sept. 6.
Parents can also register online anytime at http://www.rowanlittleleague.com.
Baseball cost is $45 for all leagues: T-ball (ages 4-6), Coach Pitch (ages 6-8), B (ages 9-10) and A (ages 11-12).
League age is as of Aug. 31, 2020.
Softball cost is $45 for all leagues: Girls T-ball Softball (Ages 4-6), Girls Coach Pitch (ages 6-8) 10U (ages 8-10) and 12U (ages 10-12). Ages are as of Dec. 31, 2019.

Intimidators
KANNAPOLIS — Reid Schaller threw five scoreless innings, leading the Hagerstown Suns over the Kannapolis Intimidators in a 4-1 win on Monday.
Schaller (4-3) allowed two hits while striking out six and walking two to pick up the win.
Hagerstown got on the board first in the fourth inning, scoring on a solo home run by Israel Pineda.
After Hagerstown added three runs, the Intimidators cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Alex Destino scored on an error.
Jason Bilous (6-9) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and three hits in the South Atlantic League game. He also struck out seven and walked four.
Hagerstown improved to 6-2 against Kannapolis this season.
College football
Juwan Houston (West Rowan) is expected to the top receiver for Guilford this season.
Houston had 39 catches for 604 yards and four touchdowns in 2018.
Local golf
In McCanless Couples play on Sunday, the first-place team was Gene & Mary Seaford, Walt Kincaid and Don Carpenter.
Finishing second was the team of David & Azalee Huneycutt, Harry Owen and Jan Godwin.
Azalee Huneycutt had longest putt.
