LANDIS ó It’s almost trick-or-treat time, and the town of Landis is hosting a Fall Fun Fest with games, prizes and food.
The event will be Oct. 30 in the 100 block of North Central Avenue between the Landis Police Department and the former hardware store.
“We want to make it where some of the business owners can give out candy and where families who don’t get as many trick-or-treaters can give to kids,” said Recreation Director Julie Noblitt.
The event is free.
This is the first time the town has hosted a fall festival, she said.
Noblitt is organizing the event so that there will be time for candy, costumes and activities that are as follows:
– Candy, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
– Crafts/games, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
– Costume contest, 8 p.m.
Age divisions for the contest are 5 and younger, 6 to 12, and 13 and older.
Prizes will be given for the scariest, cutest and most original costumes.
Noblitt has planned more than 30 different games and craft activities.
The games include bean bag toss, ring toss, tic-tac-toe, ski ball, ping pong and other carnival games.
Other planned activities include pumpkin painting and sand art, in which colored sand is poured into bottles for a unique design.
Light refreshments will be available for sale, including hot chocolate and candy apples.
Many games will cost 25 or 50 cents. Tickets will be issued to redeem for prizes. The Halloween costume contest is also free, as are planned hay rides.
“We are really trying to gear towards more programming to get more citizens and kids involved,” Noblitt said of the town’s efforts.
Central and Ryder streets will be blocked off for the night of the event.
