Warm clothing is a necessity during the winter months, and a Livingstone College fraternity is seeking donations to help those in need.
The Omega Psi Phi fraternity is collecting winter coats to donate to Rowan Helping Ministries. The organization is accepting coats for children and adults.
Coats can be dropped off at Dodge Hall on Livingstone’s campus, according to Augustus Jones, the adviser to the undergraduate chapter of the fraternity. The undergraduate chapter, Lambda Psi, is working with the graduate chapter, Tau Alpha, to collect coats, Jones said.
Donations are being accepted during the day, each day, through Tuesday afternoon.
Jones said they expect to receive between 60 and 100 coats, which will be taken to Rowan Helping Ministries on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
This is the third year the fraternity has collected coats for Rowan Helping Ministries, Jones said, adding they want to make sure everyone in the community who needs a jacket has access to one during the winter months.
Jones said the graduate chapter has roughly 20 active members who serve the community by working with various organizations and youth programs.
He said the goal is to “make a difference.”
