Salisbury Pride is planning a unique evening with “Over The Rainbow: Broadway With A Twist” on Sept .7 at The Norvell Theater. The concert performance will offer Broadway songs sung in non-traditional gender roles – men will sing songs originally written for women and vice versa.
The event is a fundraiser for Salisbury Pride’s youth and educational programs and Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation’s HIV/AIDS Emergency Fund.
Former Miss North Carolina Hailey Best will emcee and also perform along with local and regional performers. She has toured in such productions as “Jersey Boys,” “Ghost” and “Beauty and the Beast.” A graduate of the University of NC School of the Arts, Best now lives in New York City.
Two local talents are lending their support to the evening: Caroline Stephenson is serving as music director and Matthew Michael Brown will be the pianist.
Tickets are available online at www.salisburypride.com. The Norvell Theater is located at 135 E. Fisher St.
