South Rowan’s volleyball team stayed unbeaten in the Central Carolina Conference on Thursday, sweeping Central Davidson, one of the contenders.

Anna Rymer had 20 assists, 13 digs and 12 kills for the  Raiders (10-1, 8-0). Kira Rymer had 12 assists and 23 kills.

Payton Black had 21 digs. Cameron Black had 11 digs, Ashlyn Faw had 10. Makenzie McGuire had five assists.

Carson improved to 7-1 with a 25-14, 25-11, 24-26 and 25-15 win against Reagan on Thursday.

Salisbury dropped a 3-1 CCC decision against North Davidson on Thursday.

East Rowan volleyball (5-4) swept A.L. Brown on Wednesday.

Hannah Larson had nine digs, seven kills and five aces. Mikayla Tucker had seven kills. Leah Hinceman had two blocks. Elly Davis had nine digs. Zoe Larson had 19 assists.

HS boys soccer

Christopher Contreras had a goal and an assist for Carson in Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to Cox Mill. Osvaldo Ortiz scored a goal for the Cougars, who are still seeking their first win.

West Rowan’s Chris Mercado made 10 saves in Thursday’s 3-0 loss to Central Davidson.

 

Local golf

Sharon Miller won the McCanless Women’s Golf Association overall championship.

Beth Calhoun won the Championship Flight.

Susan Houston  won the First Flight, with Faye Cline runner-up.

Mary Seaford won the Second Flight, with Eileen Full runner-up.

JV volleyball

South Rowan’s jayvees lost to Central Davidson 25-23 and 25-7 on Thursday.

Caroline Barbee had six digs. Bailey Fisher had five digs. Emma Owens had seven assists. Tamaria Rhyne had four kills for the Raiders (8-3, 7-1 CCC).

JV football

Carson’s jayvee football team won 20-0 against North Rowan on Thursday.

Jordan Galarza scored two touchdowns on runs of 25 and 8 yards for Carson and also had a 2-point conversion run.

Weston Lee had a 2-yard scoring run.

Jaumon Phillips forced a fumble. Kadrian Smith picked off a pass for the Cougars (2-1). Gunnar Michael had an interception and a fumble recovery.

Alex Summers passed for 206 yards and Isiah Lytton had four catches for 128 yards for Davie in a 9-6 win against West Rowan on Thursday.

Salisbury lost to Thomasville 24-20 on Thursday.

The Bulldogs picked off three passes.

Reed Fugle threw three touchdown passes for the Hornets, 39 yards and 8 yards to Jayden Gibson and   34 yards to Tyreze Miller.  CJ Toomer caught a 2-point conversion pass.

Mid. school football

SALISBURY — North Rowan remained undefeated in four games, thumping previously unbeaten West Rowan, 32-0, in middle school football on Wednesday.

The visiting Mavericks’ defense shut down a West rushing attack that gained 355 yards last week against Corriher-Lipe. Leading the North defense were Khor’on Miller, Shymeek Verdell and Ka ‘Naijiea.

Offensively, Michael Geter scored two touchdowns for the Mavericks, while Jae’Mias Morrow and RJ Moore added one TD each. Tsion Kelly scored all four two-point conversions.

North led by just 8-0 at halftime, but broke the game opened in the third period.

Playing well for West were Corbin Bailey, Tyrin Little and Marquise Hemphill. Next Wednesday, the Bulldogs travel to Erwin Middle for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
