Honesty turned out to be the undoing for a Salisbury man selling illegal ball tickets.
Harold Lester Lee, 60, of 6052 S. Main St., is charged with a single count of misdemeanor gambling.
Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, said officers received an anonymous tip through 911 that illegal ball tickets were being sold at 6052 S. Main St.
Sifford said Deputy D.L. Holstein on the door and advised Lee that they had received a report he was selling the tickets.
The deputy said Lee responded, “I ain’t going to lie, I am.”
And he then gave permission to search his home.
Police seized assorted gambling paraphernalia and $116 in cash.
