Boys soccer

Salisbury coach Matt Parrish says game at North Davidson will be pivotal, as the Hornets (6-4, 4-3) try to get back in the CCC race.

Thursday, Sept. 26

Volleyball

West Rowan, ranked second in the state and first in 3A, plays at Carson (11-2, 2-1) in a major NPC matchup. West is 2-3 against Carson the last two seasons, winning at home in 2018 and at North Iredell in the 2017 conference tournament, but the Falcons haven’t won on Carson’s floor in more than a decade.

Cross country

The Rowan County Championships will be held at Dan Nicholas Park, starting at 5:15 p.m.

South Rowan’s teams swept the individual and team titles last year.

South’s boys, led by defending champ Noah Julian,  are favored to repeat, but West Rowan and Carson have strong teams.

Carson has a lot of depth and looks like the clear favorite in the girls race.

Boys soccer

South Iredell (7-2-1) at A.L. Brown (11-0) is a high-profile non-conference matchup.

Friday, Sept. 27

Football

A.L. Brown (2-1) plays at Davie (3-2).

It’s non-conference, but it’s a matchup of evenly matched, unpredictable teams and should be exciting.

MaxPreps ranks Davie 88th in the state, with A.L. Brown 105th. The Massey Ratings list Davie as a 2-point favorite with a 54 percent win probability.
