West Rowan’s volleyball team stayed undefeated with a five-set victory at North Iredell on Tuesday.

The Falcons (14-0, 3-0) won the North Piedmont Conference matchup 23-25, 25-8, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-7.

“They were good and we didn’t play like we can,” West coach Jan Dowling said. “But we won.”

Tori Hester had 37 kills, 16 digs, three blocks and three aces. KK Dowling had 22 kills, 11 digs, and three blocks. Allison Ennis had 66 assists, 15 digs and two aces.

Carly Stiller had five kills and three blocks. Brooke Kennerly had 17 digs. Ashlee Ennis had 15 digs. Emma Gusler had three kills. Kelcie Love  had three  kills and two  blocks.

South Rowan swept Ledford 25-21, 25-8 and 25-19 on the road on Tuesday to stay unbeaten in the Central Carolina Conference.

Kira Rymer had 13 digs, 13 assists and 18 kills for the Raiders (14-1, 11-0). Anna Rymer had 11 kills, eight digs and 13 assists. Ashlyn Faw had six aces and seven kills. Payton Black had 19 digs. Cameron Black had six digs. Makenzie McGuire had seven digs.

Carson swept Statesville 25-20, 25-22 and 26-24 in North Piedmont Conference action on Tuesday in China Grove.

Carson (11-2, 2-1) hosts West Rowan on Thursday.

  

HS girls tennis

Carson stayed undefeated with a 9-0 win against East Rowan in Tuesday’s North Piedmont Conference action.

Lindsey Conrad, Maci Cooper, Carleigh Perry, Jadyn Kirkpatrick, Riley Isley and Quinnlan Watson won in singles for the Cougars.

Conrad/Perry, Kirkpatrick/Cooper and Keeley Watson/Isley won in doubles.

It was Senior Night for Cooper and Quinnlan Watson.

Salisbury won 8-1 against Ledford in Central Carolina Conference tennis on Tuesday.

Salisbury (10-0, 7-0) stayed on top in the league.

Lillie Rusher,  Meredith Burton, Margaret Thurman, Abby Campion, Kate Burton and Abbbey Lawson swept singles. Rusher/Thurman and Meredith Burton/Sydney Hlavacek won doubles matches.

Salisbury plays at North Davidson today at 4 p.m.

JV volleyball

South Rowan won against Ledford 25-22, 19-25 and 15-13 on Tuesday.

South (10-5, 8-3) got 15 assists from Emma Owens, Bailey Fisher had 13 digs. Kali Nelson and Jennifer Thompson had five digs each. McKinley Faw had seven kills, while Tamaria Rhyne had five.

Local golf

In the Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association fall championship, Kristi Laton was the overall winner.

Susan Morris took second place in the Championship Flight.

In the First Flight,  Ellen Petrous took first place, with Mary Seaford second.

In the Second Flight,  Monica Green finished first, with Susan Wydner second.

Forty-nine GARS members played at Warrior GC.

Low ‘A’ Flight player was Red McClain with a net of 61.06.

Low ‘B’ Flight player was Jerry Teter with a net of 61.64.

Low ‘C’ Flight player was Frank Rowell with a net of 62.12.

Low ‘D’ Flight player was Larry Perrell with a net of 60.90.

Red McClain shot a 68 for low gross score and also shot one stoke below his age of 69.

Larry Perrell had low net score.

Mick Rowell eagled the par-4  No. 5 hole, while Joe Sheppard eagled the par-4 No. 9 hole.

College golf

Grace Yatawara (Salisbury) helped  East Carolina win the Pirate Collegiate Classic.

She shot 77-76-73 to tie for 15th. She made an eagle on Tuesday.

Catawba’s men shot 303-303 and tied for sixth in the King University Invitational that concluded on Tuesday.

Catawba’s Tanner Bibey and Bryson Sprinkle (East Rowan) shot 75-75  — 150 and were in a tie for 18th.

James Madison’s Walker Cress (Concord) shot 70-68-69, finished 9-under and won the River Run Collegiate in Davidson.

Richmond’s Michael Childress (Cannon School) shot 76-74-80  and tied for 55th.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies remained No.1 in the HBCU media and coaches polls put together by  BOXTOROW.

Jumal Rolle (Catawba) made his third and fourth interceptions of the season for Hamilton in a 30-27 win vs. Edmonton on Friday.
