Prep basketball: Carson sweeps Mt. Pleasant

Carson’s boys basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 70-32 romp at Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.
Cody Clanton’s career-high 24 points, including 8-for-8 shooting from the foul line, sparked the Cougars. He also had seven rebounds.
Carson forward Darius Moose had 15 points and 12 rebounds for his fourth straight double-double.
Zach Wagner hit three 3s in the second quarter to help break the game open, and coach Brian Perry said Jared Raper’s defensive energy in the second quarter got the Cougars rolling.
Dewey Andrews led the Tigers with six points.

n Carson girls winFreshman Allison Blackwell scored 13 points as Carson’s girls beat Mount Pleasant 42-30 for their first victory of the season.
Breckin Settlemyer added nine points and freshman Tyesha Phillips had seven as the Cougars (1-3) rebounded from a lopsided setback at home against Hickory Ridge one night earlier.
“It was a much-needed win, and I was very pleased with the way we came out and played hard and bounced back from a disappointing loss,” Carson coach Brooke Misenheimer said. “We maintained a lead throughout the game, and that’s a big step for us.”
Jocelyn Parnell led the Tigers with eight points.
