Hurley Park butterfly release
One of Hurley Park’s most popular events is the Butterfly Release. Currently, the Asclepias tuberosa, aka Butterfly Weed and a type of milkweed, is blooming. Due to urban encroachment and development, this plant is no longer common. Milkweed is needed now more than ever since it is the only plant on which the Monarch can complete its lifecycle.
The upcoming Hurley Park Butterfly Release is Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.,
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to find a good seat as the release happens quickly. Food trucks will be on site.
