Homecoming at Mt. Moriah
CHINA GROVE — Mt. Moriah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 750 Mt. Moriah Church Road, will celebrate its 195th homecoming on Sunday. Rev. John Stirewalt, current pastor of St. John’s in Lexington, S.C., will deliver the message. Pastor Stirewalt’s grandparents, Murrell and Ruby Stirewalt, were faithful members of the congregation and some of his extended family are current members.
Pastor Stirewalt has served congregations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Florida and Ohio, and developed a new church in Austin, served as an exchange pastor in Hamburg, Germany and serves the South Carolina Synod as a certified coach with an expertise on advising professional clergy.
Worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. A picnic lunch will be held in the Efird’s Shelter on the church grounds immediately afterward.

Pastoral anniversary at The Vineyard
The Vineyard Worship Center, 2655 Dunns Mountain Road, will celebrate Pastor Alice H. Perry on her sixth pastoral anniversary on Sunday. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Rev. Dr. William Cowan.
Evangelist Cathye Marlin of Fairview Heights Baptist Church will be the speaker for the 3 p.m. service.

Mt. Zion Homecoming

Dr. Cowan to speak at Smith Chapel
CLEVELAND — On Sunday at Smith Chapel Apostolic Holiness Church, 1735 Mt. Tabor Church Road, the 11 a.m. speaker will be Bishop Dr. A. Wayne Brown, pastor.
The 3 p.m. guest speaker will be General Overseer Dr. lvey Cowan of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Woodleaf.

Connectional Lay Day at Soldiers Memorial
Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church, 306 N. Church St., will observe its annual Connectional Lay Council on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service.
Speaker for the occasion is A.W. Burgess, author and businessman from Baltimore, Md. He is a publicly admitted domestic violence offender, abuser and bully, and uses his platform not to call out or judge, but to help others receive mental health solutions as well as to reach their personal initiatives.
Members of the Soldiers Lay Council will participate in the service.
Dr. Derrick R. Anderson is host pastor.

Homecoming and revival at Third Creek AME Zion
CLEVELAND — Homecoming will be celebrated on Sunday at Third Creek AME Zion Church, 415 E. Main St. At the 11 a.m. service the pastor, Rev. Harold L. Jordan, will bring the message.
Guest preacher for the 3 p.m. service is Rev. Dr. Bertha Pittman, pastor of Cedar Grove AME Zion Church of Cleveland. Dinner will be served in the Glenn Grayson fellowship hall after the morning service.
Fall revival is Tuesday-Thursday, Oct. 15-17 at 7 p.m.

Clergy Appreciation at Word of Life
Word of Life Family Worship Center will celebrate Clergy Appreciation Month with a special 3 p.m. service to honor senior pastor Dr. Martha Starks and Elder Clinton Starks. Dr. Starks has served the Ministry as pastor for more than 40 years.
Apostle Patricia Trueblood, pastor of Grace Deliverance Tabernacle, will be the guest speaker. Elder Virginia Brown, an associate minister at Word of Life Family Worship Center, will speak at the 10 a.m. service.

Church and School Partnership
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., hosts “Community Resilience through Church and School Partnerships” on Monday, Oct. 14, from 6:30-8 p.m. in Peeler Hall. Learn about volunteer opportunities in public schools and sign-up for a free screening of the film “Resilience.” There will be speakers and art performances. The event is sponsored by Communities in Schools, Center for Faith & the Arts, and Covenant Community Connection and supported by Rowan-Salisbury Schools and Center for Emotional Health.

Horizon Church hosts women’s conference
STATESVILLE — Women in Motion, the Women’s Ministry of Horizon Church, 316 Signal Hill Drive, hosts Masterpiece Women’s Conference on Oct. 26 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.
