CHINA GROVER — A China Grove woman is charged with stealing from Walmart, where she had been banned, then presenting the identification of a dead woman to a police officer.
The Salisbury Police Department charged Casey Lynn Captain, 46, of the 200 block of Erskine Drive, with misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor first-degree trespassing and charges on an outstanding warrant.
Walmart’s loss prevention contacted police Tuesday evening after the woman was caught with Equate meal replacement shakes and antacids as well as two books and bandages. She also had three syringes, two of which were empty and the other with preloaded Narcan, according to a police report.
Captain told the officer the Narcan, an overdose reversal drug, was for her son, who she said is a heavy heroin user. She gave the officer an ID that belonged to a woman that the officer determined is dead.
The officer also learned that Captain had been banned from all Walmart stores after being banned from a store in Charlotte.
When the officer confronted the woman about the ID, she told him her real name. She remains in the Rowan County jail under a $3,400 secured bond.
