Letter: Why was Tippie Miller excluded from list?

It was astonishing to me to read Mark Wineka’s story published Thursday (“Names add solemn note to new war memorial”) on the new war memorial at City Park and notice that Tippie Miller’s name was not on the panel honoring “women who made significant contributions to the community.”
The five women named certainly “fit the bill,” but to exclude Tippie is a travesty and an affront to her many contributions, primarily the establishment of the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
Through the years, Tippie worked tirelessly in many areas of service: hospice, PTA, sheltered workshop and Catawba Chiefs, to name but a few.
I protest that personal prejudice might have dictated this omission.
