Teresa Rufty, President of TMR Development and TMR Realty, has successfully completed the requirements of the National Home Builders Association to become a Certified Green Professional.
Rufty, a licensed general contractor and real estate broker, is now qualified to build environmentally friendly “green” homes as outlined by the guidelines of the National Home Builders Association.
These homes are not only more energy efficient than standard residential construction but substantially reduce landfill waste during the construction process.

Financial advisor attends conference
Mary T. Moose, RFC, financial advisor and president of Victory Wealth Management of China Grove, attended the National Education and Business Conference in Atlanta, Ga. The event was held by FSC Securities for which Moose is a registered principal.
Moose and her staff garnered financial insight from economic minds including Dr. Jeffery Rosenweig, director of Emory University’s Global Perspectives program.
Also at the event was keynote speaker Don Connelly, a 40-year veteran of the financial services industry and Wall Street.
Moose and her staff attended numerous workshops, which provided insight into current and future trends designed to help them better serve their clients.

Osian completes Trane courses
Ronnie Osian, service technician for S.A. Sloop Heating and Air Conditioning of Landis, recently completed two courses for Trane Heating & Cooling Products. Osian earned certification from Trane for the courses which were prokup air conditioning service and spring update.
Designer attends company rally
Salisbury designer for Celebraing Home, Susan Lohr, recently returned from the company’s 2009 rally in Nashville, Tenn., where designers gained insight into running a successful business.

Arey attends code compliance seminar
Steve Arey of Salisbury recently attended the NFPA-99 code compliance seminar for health care facilities given by the National Fire Protection Association.
The objectives of the NFPA-99 code are to minimize hazards in health care facilities by complying with requirements for electrical systems, medical gases, electrical equipment, gases equipment and laboratories.
An NFPA member since 1987, Arey manages BEST of Rowan, a medical equipment service company in Salisbury.
Steve and his wife, Mary, live in Salisbury.
Local manager wins retailing award
Timothy J. Penninger, manager of Southern States Cooperative of Salisbury, has won the President’s Operating Excellence Award.
Only 46 service managers from Southern States’ 23-state territory earned this award, which Penninger has won four times since the program’s inception in 1987.
The awards are based on performance for the past fiscal year, which ends on June 30 for all service locations. All Southern States managers are eligible to win, but the standards ó equaling or surpassing the high standards on return on capital, net profit and productivity ó are difficult to achieve, even in the best of economies.
Founded in 1923, Southern States now has more than 300,000 farmer members.
