High school cross country: Julian, Harrison strong at McAlpine

CHARLOTTE — In Saturday’s Wendy’s Invitational held at McAlpine Greenway in Charlotte, South Rowan’s Noah Julian, the county champion, competed in the “3A boys race.”
Julian ran a PR of 16:33 to place third out of 242 runners. He was the top public school runner and the top runner from North Carolina. The top two finishers were from Westminster School in Georgia.
South had a number of PRs and was 11th out of 35 in the team scoring.
West Rowan was ninth in team scoring. Damian Ackman was the fastest West runner in 17:49 and finished 59th.
Carson was 26th. A.L. Brown was 28th. East Rowan was 29th.Carson’s Zac Barbee was 43rd in 17:35. A.L. Brown’s Onsemo Rosas was 30th in 17:24. Thomas Ferguson ran 18:23 to pace East Rowan.

In the “3A girls race,” East Rowan’s Adalie Harrison, the county champ, was the top Rowan runner. She was clocked in 20:51 and finished 23rd out of 208 runners.
Carson’s girls placed 15th, with East Rowan 17th and South Rowan 23rd.
Freshman Mckayla Borst ran 22:21 and finished 63rd to lead Carson.
Bethany Rymer ran 22:55 to lead South.
West Rowan’s Megyn Spicer ran 22:29 and was 71st.
