West Rowan beat Carson 6-1 in North Piedmont Conference action on Wednesday.
Joseph Turcios scored three goals for West (4-10-1, 2-2). Michael Leon, Aleksis Suarez and Salvador Bautista had a goal each.
Luis Vasquez had two assists. Bautista. Suarez and Manny Amezquita had one each.
Chris Mercado and Jose Elizade made two saves each.
Kevin Sotelo scored for the Cougars (1-9-1, 1-3). Branson Sotelo made 13 saves, eight in the second half.

Jamie Woodard scored two goals to lead Statesville to a 9-0 NPC win against East Rowan on Wednesday.
SHS Senior Night
Salisbury celebrated Senior Night on Wednesday with a 7-0 Central Carolina Conference victory over Lexington.
Seniors Brody Dillon, Juan Salazar, Hugo Trujillo, Angel Quintero, Irvin Almaraz, Shawn Henderson and Juan Silva were honored at halftime.
Salisbury got goals from Salazar (2), Christopher Portillo (3) and Joshua Portillo (2).
Assists were credited to Joshua Portillo, Christopher Portillo, Salazar, Angel Quintero and Gabriel Fuentes Reyes.
Wade Robins and Jude Lockhart combined for the shutout in goal for the Hornets (11-5, 8-4).
Next up for the Hornets is a rematch with Central Davidson on Monday night at 6 p.m.
Over the course of the past three-plus seasons, the seven seniors compiled a 62-17-7 overall record and a 42-11-3 mark in the CCC and have earned two conference championships.
JV soccer
Carson won against West Rowan 4-0 on Wednesday.
Porfirio Ruiz had two goals and an assist. Vernon Newton and Allen Sanchez scored goals. Alvaro Cruiel had an assist.
Little League softball
The Rowan County Little League softball team leaves for Washington, D.C., from the Statesville Regional Airport on Friday morning on a charter plane donated by Victory Air.
They’ll have a full day of sightseeing that includes an exclusive visit to the Oval Office. The plane is scheduled to leave Statesville Friday at 7:15 a.m., with the return scheduled for 10:30 p.m.
Catawba Hall of Fame
The Catawba College Sports Hall of Fame will induct five members of the Class of 2019 during a ceremony on Nov. 15.
Maher Atta (men’s soccer), Paige Haverty Stalcup (golf), Radell Lockhart (football), Melissa Schiffel Price (swimming) and David Thomas (baseball) will be inducted.
The Catawba College Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1977. This year’s inductees will bring the total number of members to 184. A cocktail hour will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m, followed by the dinner and induction ceremony from 6-8 p.m.
HS volleyball
South Rowan can clinch the Central Carolina Conference championship by beating Lexington at home tonight.
• Undefeated West Rowan is at home tonight against North Iredell.
College volleyball
Morgan Hester (Carson) had 50 assists and 15 digs for Catawba in 3-1 loss to UNCP on Tuesday.
Women’s soccer
Kelsey Esquivel scored for Pfeiffer in a 1-0 win against Salem on Wednesday at Lefko Field.
Kannapolis baseball
Season tickets for the 70 2020 South Atlantic League home games are now available for the team that will be renamed on Oct. 23.
The team announced season ticket prices starting at $525 per seat, which breaks down to $7.50 per game for an infield box ticket on the first or third base side. The three sections directly behind home plate are designated as Home Plate Premium seats and are priced at $630 per season ($9 per game).
Youth football
K.P. Park’s Defenders Sports Academy football program is having great success and is achieving statewide ranking.
The Defenders play a quadruple-header at West Rowan Middle School on Saturday, with four different age groups in action.
