A woman driver involved in a chase and wrong-way collision on I-85 Sunday was put in the Rowan County Detention Center under $2,000 bond
Katrina Nicole Oxendine, 27, of Lincolnton Road, was charged with fleeing to elude, reckless driving, operating a vehicle without registration, driving while license revoked, an open container, possession of drug paraphernalia and larceny of motor vehicle.
The chase started when Oxendine refused to stop for a Salisbury police officer who saw her cross the center line on South Main Street.
She subsequently drove the stolen Dodge Intrepid onto I-85 via Peeler Road.
She was clocked at 115 mph on the interstate.
She got off I-85 at Exit 63 (Lane Street) and then got back on heading south in the northbound side.
A mile or so north of Earnhardt Boulevard (Exit 60) she collided with a 2007 Ford work van driven by Darrell Clark, 47, of Gasburg, Va.
The impact cut the Dodge in two pieces. Oxendine was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Salisbury Police charged Oxendine Monday after she was released from the hospital.
She faces additional charges lodged by the N.C. Highway Patrol in Cabarrus County.
