Relay For Life of Rowan County is well underway on its fundraising efforts. Teams have already raised almost $412,000 for the 2010 season.
On Sunday at First Baptist Church of Salisbury’s fellowship hall there will be a Poor Man’s Supper at 12:15 p.m. The church’s relay team is selling a meal of pintos, cabbage, cornbread and slaw for $5 for adults and $3 for children younger than 10.
There will also be hot dogs available. Also dessert will be available for an added charge. Reservations are a must, please call the church at 704-633-0431.
Another event is the Sweet Potato Queens’ annual Fall Yard Sale that begins Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 a.m. and ends at noon.
There will be all sorts of household items and clothing for purchase. The yard sale will be at the old Bost Trucking parking lot on U.S. 52 North in Rockwell.
The final event is a Halloween event. The first Relay for Life Monster Mash will take place Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 p.m. until midnight at the Elk’s Lodge of Salisbury, 508 S. Main St.
There will be prizes given for the best costumes. The tickets are $15 for single and $25 for a couple. The event will serve light refreshments and a DJ will provide music.
