Forest Park Elementary in Kannapolis recently participated in the Read for the Record Event sponsored by Jumpstart.
Students were part of the thousands of children who read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle on Oct. 8. Leah Grasty, second-grade teacher, spearheaded the event at Forest Park.
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is a campaign designed to bring attention to the importance of early education by encouraging 1 million children to read the same book on the same day around the world in an effort to set a world record for the “Largest Shared Reading Experience.”
The deadline for reporting the reading is Oct. 31. For more information, go to www.readfortherecord.org.
