Involuntary
annexation:
Maggie Blackwell:
She doesn’t believe in “taxation without representation” but might vote for an area to be annexed to provide the city with needed revenue.
Carl Dangerfield:
He is “adamantly opposed” to annexing people unless they have voted for it. He also thinks people in extraterritorial judicial areas should get to vote in city elections.
Blake Jarman:
A budget problem requiring the city to annex an area shows a need for new leadership. It would be better to cut spending and payroll expenses.
Charles Black:
He called himself a “victim” of annexation and said annexation should be a democratic process. Also, if the city annexes an area, it should provide city services to those residents.
William Peoples:
People shouldn’t have their money taken without getting a say-so.
Michael Young:
He questioned the value of having city residents who don’t want to be part of the city.
Brian Miller:
People being annexed should have a voice.
