First United Methodist Church invites the public to visit on Saturday, Oct. 10 during the Historic Salisbury Foundation’s October Tour.
Director of Music Ministries Matthew Brown will be playing the organ in the sanctuary periodically from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to sit and listen to the music and view the handcrafted banners. Members will be there as greeters with church cookbooks and magnets on sale.
Orders will be taken for Brown’s soon-to-be released CD of organ music. Proceeds from the CD sales will go toward the church organ fund.
On the church front lawn, the youth of FUMC will have a fundraiser for the building fund project. They will sell hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and popcorn.
They will also have a corn hole game, face painting and cut-outs with old- fashioned clothing for picture- taking.
Solid Rock
Solid Rock Church of God, 1004 Locke St., will be in revival Oct. 6-8 at 7 p.m. each evening.

St. John’s Lutheran
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., will be the local host of a world-wide prayer event for women on Nov. 14.
The event is being held by Moms In Touch, an international prayer group for women concerned about their own children as well as the children and schools of the world. The prayer meeting will run from 9-11 a.m.
The program of prayer titled “Arise! Cry Out!” will originate in San Diego, Calif. on Oct. 9-11 for taping of the event which will be shown in churches throughout the world on Nov. 14 by video celebration.
Women in the Rowan Community are invited to meet at St. John’s to pray for the spiritual lives of children and to unite as one voice to spread hope for the well being of our local children and schools.

Each week, St. John’s invites community members to join in a Prayer Walk to develop community ties and get exercise on Wednesday mornings from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Those who wish to share prayers for our community are invited to meet on the lawn at the chapel for a walk to various schools, government offices and the scenes of local needs in and around the St. John’s area.
St. John’s. congregation invites the community for Wednesday meals in the fellowship hall and for weekly small group meetings, including an ALPHA group and a study of Judaism, following the meal. Meals, which are served at 5:30 p.m., cost $3 per person and meetings afterward are free of charge.

EAST SPENCER ó Allen Delanti Hines Sr. will deliver his first official sermon this Sunday, 5 p.m., at Love Christian Center, 102 South Long St., East Spencer.
Hines is the treasurer of Love Christian Center and also serves as a special advisor to the pastor, Bishop W. Ronald Hash.
Hines attended Barber-Scotia College in Concord and later Gardner-Webb College where he graduated with a B.S. in Sociology. Hines joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he obtained the rank of E-4. He married Minister Tiffany Hines in 2005 and has seven children.
Since 1997, Hines has been employed by Freightliner. He is an active volunteer coach.

Maranatha Bible Church will have a memorial service for Catherine Eugenia Brazell on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Former students, friends, and family are invited.
“Miss B” taught Bible at Woodleaf Elementary and West Rowan High, sponsored by West Rowan Bible Teaching Association. At age 87, she was still teaching adult classes at the YMCA, Yadkin House and Crosswinds Apartments until she moved to Georgia in 2005 for health reasons to be near her family.
She died Sept. 23 in Cumming, Ga. Her funeral was held last Saturday in Columbia, S.C., where she was born and grew up.
‘Walk for Life’
The Pregnancy Support Center’s 14th annual Walk for Life will be held 9-11:30 a.m., Oct. 10, at the Rowan County Fairgrounds.
Walker registration, free breakfast, music, games, and activities are from 9ń10 a.m. The program and non-competitive, 2-mile walk will be held between 10 and 11 a.m.
Following the walk, games will resume and door prizes and awards will be announced.
Walkers may pick up registration forms at participating churches or the Pregnancy Support Center, 847 S. Main St., collect donations and bring them to the walk at 9 a.m.
The Pregnancy Support Center has been assisting local families for more than 20 years. It provides help to those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy who seek an alternative to abortion, including free pregnancy tests, appropriate referrals including adoption, provision of pregnancy and baby supplies, peer counseling and support, limited ultrasound services, and various other services.
All the services provided come from a network of churches and individuals in the community that provide both volunteer manpower and financial support.
