I am writing this letter requesting that a serious thought be made as people enter the polls for the 2019 Salisbury City Council election.

I strongly endorse Al Heggins in her re-election bid to continue the great works that she has done without fail for all the citizens of Salisbury. When she says “#SalisburyStrong,” it is not a catch phrase; it is her intent to get all involved in the process of effectively governing the city through open communication. The hashtag “#SalisburyStandingTogether” is an inclusive attempt to have all, irrespective of where one resides, to participate in improving the lives of all, not just a few.

When one encounters Al, she is definitely a part of the “#everydaypeople” in that, even if there is disagreement between her and someone else, Al listens intently and allows an intelligent conversation to take place. The only times in my memory of Salisbury that has happened was during Wiley Lash and Susan Kluttz administrations. (The older generation will remember those days). Young folk, Google those names.

For Al to have endured all the scrutiny and bashing that she has through the open-records requests submitted by the Salisbury Post and some council members squarely, in my opinion, undermining her attempts to improve the quality of life for all citizens, we need to support her. We currently have the mayor of a lifetime.

I respectfully request that people single vote for Al Heggins for Salisbury City Council.
