The KAA-MaCC Sixth Anniversary Celebration Weekend, Oct. 11-12, featured two events: the Continuing the Quest for History Untold community reception & fundraiser and the Gala Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. These fundraising events were designed to engage the broader community, with celebrating the historical accomplishments and collaborative endeavors and benefit KAA-MaCC educational programs and cultural events.

The Continuing the Quest for History Untold community reception & fundraiser featured special guest The Honorable Cheri Beasley, Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
The reception highlighted KAA-MaCC supporters and partners, and the collective impact in the local community.

At the “Continuing the Quest for History Untold” Gala Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, individuals from Cabarrus and Rowan County were recognized for their significant contributions to society of lasting value and impact in their respective endeavors.

2019 inductees included Shirley O. Bridges Galimore (nursing); and (posthumously) Wilma Steepleton Lindsay (educator), William T. “Jimmy” Murphey (community organizer with the legacy known as “Mr. Christmas”), and Dr. Katie G. Cannon (theologian) received Lifetime Achievement awards.
