Christiana Lutheran Christiana Lutheran Church will celebrate homecoming this Sunday. The Rev. Woodrow Frick will preach.
Frick has served five congregations in North and South Carolina. He is currently serving as the interim pastor at New Bethel, Richfield.
Homecoming festivities at Christiana will begin at 9:25 a.m. with Sunday school. The homecoming teacher will be Mark Frazer from Bethel Colony of Mercy, a Christian alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility for men located in Lenoir. The day’s loose offering will go to Bethel.
Worship begins at 10:30 a.m., led by the Rev. Carl Haynes. The Chancel Choir will sing.
Following worship the congregation will gather in the fellowship hall for a covered dish luncheon.
Following lunch Nathan Brown House Inc. will sponsor an open house of the Nathan Brown House. NBH Inc. is currently restoring the home that Christiana Lutheran and St. Luke’s Reformed Congregations were formed in.

St. Luke Baptist
St. Luke Baptist Church, 410 Hawkinstown Road, will celebrate its annual missionary program 4 p.m., Sept. 20.The Rev. Barbara Barbour, formerly of Salisbury, will be the guest speaker. She is the pastor of White Cross AME Church in Efland, and is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is the author of “Herstory as Women, Pastor, Preacher.”
She was elected Herstoriographer of the AME Women’s in Ministry at the 2004-08 General Conference held in St. Louis, Mo.
The Rev. Barbour was ordained an itinerant Elder in 1983 in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She has served on several civic boards and is founder of Adams Inspirational AME Zion Church in Clinton, Md. where the missionary society is named in her honor.

Sept. 20 is homecoming Sunday at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. The speaker for the 10:45 a.m. service will be the church’s pastor, the Rev. Dr. Clary L. Phelps. The 3 p.m. speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Henry C. McNeill, pastor of First Baptist Church of Kannapolis. His choir, ushers and congregation will join him.
A noted revivalist and evangelist, McNeill has preached from coast to coast in the U.S. as well as at several state conventions and Baptist Associations. He is a church planter and currently oversees the work of several churches in North Carolina and Virginia as a spiritual father. Biker Sunday
KANNAPOLIS ó Kimball Lutheran Church will be hosting its 4th annual Biker Sunday this Sunday.
Music will begin at 10 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m. There will be an outdoor worship service which will include a “Blessing of the Bikes.”
Each biker will receive a free photo of their bike that will be taken as they enter the parking area. A free hot dog lunch will follow worship. Bikers will offer rides to children of all ages.

A “Precept Upon Precept” Bible study at Maranatha Bible Church will be held Thursdays, 7-9 p.m. for eight weeks. Registration and orientation is Oct. 1. at 7 p.m.
The study is written by Kay Arthur, a well-known speaker, broadcaster and author. The study is designed for both the serious student with seminary experience and the individual who has never studied the Bible before.

Preaching mission
LEXINGTON ó First United Methodist Church of Lexington, 310 S. Main St., will celebrate its 28th annual Mayme Weaver Preaching Mission Sept. 20 and 21.
Dr. Ben Witherington III will be the guest minister. Witherington is Amos Professor of New Testament for Doctoral Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary and on the doctoral faculty at St. Andrews University in Scotland.
A graduate of UNC, Chapel Hill, he received a Ph.D. from the University of Durham in England. He is now considered one of the top evangelical scholars in the world.
A popular lecturer, Witherington has presented seminars for churches, colleges and biblical meetings not only in the United States but also in many other countries.
Witherington has written more than 30 books and is a frequent contributor to the Beliefnet website. He has been seen on the History Channel, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and The Discovery Channel.
Worship service will be held at 11 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. A reception will be held after the evening service. On Monday, there will be another worship service at 7 p.m.
