The Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) has received the Platinum Peak Performance Award for the 2008 calendar year.
Peak Performance Awards are presented on behalf of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) to recognize public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records. The award was presented by the NACWA during the association’s 2009 Summer Conference and 39th annual meeting in Milwaukee, Wisc.
The Salisbury-Rowan Wastewater Treatment Plant was one of only 120 facilities nationwide, and only four in North Carolina, to receive the Platinum Award this year.
The Platinum Award signifies five or more years of 100 percent National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit compliance.
Utilities Director Jim Behmer shares, “The employees within our Plant Operations and Environmental Services Divisions are to be commended for their success in meeting this high standard of environmental stewardship.” The award was presented to Martin Trexler, on behalf of SRU employees, during the Aug. 18 Salisbury City Council meeting.
Trexler is the Wastewater Treatment Plants Supervisor and Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) of the Salisbury-Rowan Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities serves residential and business customers in Rockwell, Salisbury, Spencer, East Spencer and Granite Quarry with additional water supply and wastewater treatment to other local client communities within Rowan County.
