Staff report
Salisbury Police had to arrest a man to get him off the railroad tracks.
On Sunday afternoon, police were called to the Old Wilkesboro Road rail crossing, where a man was reported lying on the tracks and waiting for the train.
Officer J.A. Vail responded and found the 54-year-old man lying on the tracks.
Vail reported the man responded, “It looked like a nice place to take a nap.”
After further discussion, the man told the officer that he didn’t intend to harm himself, but refused all assistance.
At that point, Vail arrested the man for trespassing on railroad tracks and took him to the Rowan County Detention Center.
