The Vortex, which will be one of the rides offered at the upcoming Rowan County Fair, rotates eight riders 98 feet into the air on the ends of two long arms.
Riders can experience up to 3.6 G’s of force as they whirl and flip as they go over the top.
The Vortex is one of 30 rides and attractions Powers Great American Midways is bringing to the Rowan County Fair Sept. 21-26. The fairgrounds are located on Julian Road.
All-day-ride wristbands, regularly priced at $20, can be purchased in advance for $15 at www.rowancountyfair.net.
The Vortex presents an exciting light show. Its arms are decorated with a $40,000 state-of-the-art LED lighting package.
In the white mode, the LEDs also can appear as strobe lights for a unique flashing effect.
The Vortex is manufactured in Italy by Fabbri.
