Salisbury residents will have a chance to speak Tuesday about projects the city completed during the year with federal block grants.
Salisbury City Council will hold a public hearing on the 2008-2009 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report during Tuesday’s 4 p.m. meeting.
The report gives details of the city’s neighborhood revitalization efforts. It also summarizes other efforts the city made to help low or moderate income homeowners and improve housing conditions.
A memo from city Senior Planner Janet Gapen to Joe Morris, director of Community Planning Services, said fewer projects were completed this year because of the economy.
The memo said three houses were rehabilitated and the city started construction on a new house in the West End neighborhood.
City Council will also hold a public hearing for a rezoning request. Sister Act LLC has requested that the Conditional District Overlay on the property at 830 Faith Road be amended.
The Salisbury Planning Board recommended the amendment 8 to 1 at its Aug. 25 meeting but excluded residential as a permitted use. After the public hearing Tuesday, City Council will vote on the issue.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting:
– Council will consider awarding a contract for $5,447,000 to Shelco Construction Company for construction of the Salisbury Customer Service Center Facility.
– Council will consider awarding a contract for $125,971 to Country Boy Landscaping Inc. for repairs to the Bank Street Bridge.
– Council will consider authorizing Mayor Susan Kluttz to form an agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for funding for phase 2 of the Grants Creek Greenway project.
