Staff report
A new Dunkin’ Donuts store will be built next to the Walgreens drug store at 705 Jake Alexander Blvd. W., a city planner said Friday.
Grading has begun on the site near Jake Alexander’s intersection with Lincolnton Road.
The new standalone store won’t be Salisbury’s first Dunkin’ Donuts, which is known as much for its coffee as its doughnuts. A Dunkin’ Donuts store at 1009 E. Innes Street closed in 2002 after operating there since 1986.
The Donut Connection took its place the next year, but that business closed in 2004 after road work on East Innes made it difficult for customers to reach.
The Dunkin’ Donuts Web site also lists a location at 3410 S. Main St., inside the WilcoHess gas station and convenience store.
