52nd annual Southern Christmas Show opens today

CHARLOTTE — The 52nd annual Southern Christmas Show, the largest holiday show in North America, returns to Charlotte Nov. 14-24, with more than 450 vendors.
10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
Tickets at the door $15 adults / $4 children ages 6-12. On-site parking $8.

Final weekend : ‘Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike’

St. Thomas Players, in collaboration with Lee Street theatre, winds up its run of Christopher Durang’s “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” tonight through Saturday, Nov. 14-16.
The cast includes Kurt Corriher, Mary Ann McCubbin and Jonathan Coarsey.
A play with the names “Vanya,” “Sonia,” and “Masha” in the title might lead one to expect a Russian play or at least a play with Russian overtones. The joke is on you. This absurdist comedy — “Chekov in a blender” — is bursting with insider theater jokes, but everyone will be tickled by the comedy throughout.
