SALISBURY – The IDEA Center will host a free legal clinic called Ask a Business Lawyer at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Gateway Building in the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce building, located at 204 E. Innes St.

Legal guidance will be provided by Rocky Cabagnot.

Cabagnot is an attorney with the Hull and Chandler law firm’s Charlotte office and has more than 15 years of experience representing nonprofit public charities, affordable housing developers, and community organizations.

“Additionally, he has a proven ability to successfully analyze an organization’s critical business requirements,” according to a news release from the Rowan IDEA Center Foundation.

According to the news release, business requirements include corporate formation, tax status and corporate governance documents, identifying deficiencies and potential opportunities, and “developing innovative and cost-effective solutions for enhancing competitiveness and improving client service offerings.”

Cabagnot has been a professor at Florida State University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Charlotte School of Law.

Future sessions for the IDEA Center entrepreneur workshops include Keeping Tabs on Your Critical Mass: Accounting, Insurance and Why You Need It; Your IT: Infotech for Startups; and Entrepreneurial Finance: Alternative Financing for Startups.

The Innovation, Development, Entrepreneurship and Acceleration (IDEA) Center Foundation works in partnership with the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, Rowan County, the city of Salisbury, Catawba College, Livingstone College, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, business leaders, and the Rowan Economic Development Commission.
