Renaming ceremony at noon
DogPAWs Dog Park and the City of Salisbury Parks and Rec Department are hosting the F.I.D.O Fall Festival and renaming ceremony for Salisbury’s Dog Park, 315 S. MLK Jr. Ave., on Saturday.
The City is renaming the park to Pitner Dog Park, in honor of Theresa Pitner of Understanding Your Dog, LLC, who put years of work into achieving Salisbury’s first and only off-leash dog park in Salisbury. This is a celebration of how far the park has come in the year it has been open, and a fundraiser for improvements and amenities. F.I.D.O (Facilitating Interactions for Dogs and Owners) Fall Festival is a free event, open to the public, and furry friends are invited to the party.
There will be live music with Chelsea Rhae Childers, Tom & Toni, Jeff Martinez and Mama Tried as well as vendors, local artists, a food truck and drinks.
The Halfway House Animal Rescue and Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary will be on site with available puppies ready for adoption.
Contests and competitions include a 20-yard Dash, Biggest Lap Dog contest, and Most Tricks in a Row Talent Show. A three-tier raffle will be ongoing through the festival, with all proceeds going towards improvements for the park (benches, water fountains, toys, and more!).
