CHINA GROVE – The 41st annual Southern Rowan Christmas Parade will take place Tuesday along Main Street in Landis and China Grove.

The parade will kick off at 3 p.m. in Landis and restart in China Grove at 4 p.m.

“This will be a fun way to kick off the holiday season, with the community coming together,” said Patti Price, events coordinator for the town of China Grove. “We’ve got a number of new entries this year. There will be four bands this year all from Carson High School, South Rowan High School, North Rowan High, and Independence High School.”

Price said Gary Ritchie, owner of Gary’s Barbecue in China Grove, will be the grand marshal for the parade.

“He’s done so much for our community, and we’re so proud and excited to have him as our grand marshal,” Price said.

Price said she’s looking forward to seeing “all of the smiling faces of kids” at the parade.

“Some of the floats are professional floats, some are pickup trucks, some are homemade. We will also have veterans participating in the parade,” she said. “There will be over 100 floats on display this year.”

Main Street in Landis and China Grove will shut down from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday because of the parade. Town officials urge local residents to plan accordingly.
