If you are an Elvis fan then the Humane Society of Rowan County is hosting a can’t miss October event.
The Humane Society along with MC Productions Entertainment, Blowing Rock, is bringing a benefit concert to Salisbury.
The concert will be 6:30 p.m. at the Event Center on the Cornerstone Church campus, 315 Webb Road.
The concert will feature Ryan Pelton, a tribute artist, who has performed at Legends in Myrtle Beach. He also performed for six years with the Legends in Concert, a Las Vegas Production Show. Pelton has also been featured on American Idol, where he performed with Celine Dion.
Pelton’s performance will cover all the years of Elvis Presley’s career from the ’50s, ’60s, his movie and Las Vegas years, said Mary Wright of MC Productions.
There will be light concessions and souvenir scarves for sale that Pelton will sign after the show.
All of the proceeds from the concession stand and 50 percent of the scarves will go to the Humane Society as well as a portion of the ticket sale profits, upon a sold out show.
“The concert is a huge push to raise awareness for the local Humane Society,” Wright said.
The Humane Society was approached by MC Productions to host the tribute concert.
“This is the first time we’ve been involved with such an event and are excited to be participating,” said Jane Hartness, with the Humane Society of Rowan County.
Hartness said the Humane Society is getting calls every day about the event.
Pelton likes to support nonprofit organizations and Mary and Carolyn (MC Productions Entertainment) are very supportive of humane societies, Hartness said.
Tickets are still available. Messages can be left on the Humane Society voicemail at 704-636-5700 at which time someone will arrange to mail or deliver tickets.
Those interested are asked to leave a name and telephone number.
“We’re just happy to be participating in an event that is family-friendly with a professional group that supports our work as a nonprofit, volunteer organization,” Hartness said.
The scarves are available now for purchase in advance and will also be sold at the show.
Tickets are $18 and up. To purchase tickets through MC Productions, call 828-295-3880.
