Kannapolis Parks and Rec offers classes, camps

KANNAPOLIS ó The Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department has three upcoming events for citizens of all ages.
– The department will host a boot camp starting Tuesday, Sept. 15 for all ages on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Village Park, 700 W. C St. The camp, which runs through Oct. 23, will be for all fitness levels and will include plyometrics, drills, bands and yoga. Cost for the camp is $60, and the registration deadline is Sept. 4. Participants must bring a long band, water, beach towel or yoga mat.
– Martha Earnhardt and Carol Gordon Bickford, the mothers of NASCAR stars Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jeff Gordon, will have a signing event for their book, “Pit Stop in a Southern Kitchen: Two Moms of Racing Legends Serve Up Stories and Recipes” Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kannapolis Train Station.
– “Soccer Shots,” a clinic for boys and girls age 3 to 7, will begin Sept. 22. The clinics will be Tuesdays from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at Village Park on the amphitheater lawn, and participants will be divided into two age groups. Registration is available at the Parks and Recreation office, and the deadline to register is Sept. 15. The cost to participate is $40. The clinic will continue through Oct. 13.
