Hot-shooting Broncos blow out Livingstone women, 83-63

FAYETTEVILLE — Fayetteville State shot a solid 52 percent from the floor and rolled by Livingstone, 83-63, here Monday night in college women’s basketball action.
FSU improves to 3-5 and 2-0 in the CIAA. LC falls to 3-5 and 1-3.
The Broncos made 34-of-65 shots, including 5-for-5 from 3-point range. Trailing, 19-13, after the first quarter, FSU outscored the Blue Bears, 70-44, the rest of the game.
Fayetteville turned the game around with a 28-15 second quarter, taking a 41-36 halftime lead.
Alyssa Thompson led the Broncos with 19 points, followed by Shantel Bennett (16), Katisha Hyman (15) and Aminata Johnson (14).
Daijah Turner scored 22 points to lead LC and Victoria Onozie followed with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Blue Bears’ trio of Daisa Harris, Darra Walker and Adel Allen, who normally lead the scoring, was held to sub-par games. Walker managed 10 points but Harris (8) and Allen (5), both shot the ball poorly.
Livingstone returns to action next Monday, traveling to CIAA opponent Bowie State for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
