Rowan County History Course starts in late January

SALISBURY — The registration period is open for the nine-week Rowan County History Course, which is jointly sponsored by Historic Salisbury Foundation and Rowan Museum.
The course will be held on Thursdays between Jan. 30 and March 26, 2020, mostly from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Classes meet at various historic locations, beginning with the Rowan Museum at 202 N. Main St. The course includes information on Native Americans, early pioneers, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, industrialization and more — up to modern times.
The basic text is “Rowan County … A Brief History,” by the late James S. Brawley. It is available at the Rowan Public Library or on a CD at the class for $10.
Cost of the course is $25 for current members of Historic Salisbury Foundation or Rowan Museum. If you are a newcomer to the community within the past 12 months, the cost is $20.
For the general public, the course is $30 per person.
