A Salisbury man has been charged with robbing a woman at gunpoint at a CashPoints ATM early Saturday.
The Salisbury Police Department charged Justin Dean Caldwell, 20, of 415 W. Franklin St., Apt. 7, with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the robbery near Salisbury Mall.
The victim, a 21-year-old Salisbury woman, was at the CashPoints ATM at 1935 W. Jake Alexander Blvd. just after midnight when a man approached and pointed a handgun at her.
She had her door ajar so she could get closer to the machine. The suspect took the money she’d just withdrawn and told her to get more.
Caldwell, who is also known as “White Chocolate,” is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $40,000 bond.
In 2007, Caldwell and another teen, who authorities said were both suspected gang members, were charged with breaking into several businesses where cell phones were taken and stealing $2,000 worth of clothing from the Webb Road Flea Market.
