Letter: Work together on poverty

We, the citizens, need to all work together and do our part to fight local poverty.
We could go out and give homeless people money or go to the store and buy them food and clothes so they won’t get hungry or cold, especially during winter time. We could build more shelters in the area so they can live their and work to earn profit. Another thing: we need more jobs in Salisbury so those in poverty can have some place to make money. I believe a good Idea would be to give them job training just like anyone else.
We can pay for all this by starting a fundraiser downtown where people can donate money to help us pay for new shelters to be constructed.
The percent of those in poverty is 22.9% of the more than 30,000 people in Salisbury. Things that may cause this include poor education, conflict with family and the lack of jobs. Let’s all work together and fix this problem.
