Some people wonder why there is a big fuss about the 2016 election in Trump world and why President Donald Trump is obsessed with investigating Ukraine’s non-existent role in middling in that election.

If it can be repeated (falsely) numerous times by numerous Republican politicians and Trump appointees Ukraine did meddle in the 2016 election so the general public has a suspicion or a belief that it’s true, it will obscure the fact that Russians did the interfering. That was the basis in December 2016 for the U.S. to improve sanctions on Russia. They were sanctions the Trump administration drug their feet on implementing for seven months until Congress passed a resolution in August 2017, with 99% approval, insisting the administration act on the santions.

Note the relief Mr. Trump expressed to the Russian ambassador in the Oval office earlier in May 2017 about eliminating the Russian interference issue with the firing on then-FBI Director James Comey just a day or two earlier.

Removing, or at least calling into question, Russia’s culpability in the interference in the 2016 election could lead to a push to life the sanctions, which would be a great benefit to Russian leader Vladimir Puting and his oligarch friends.

The question can be asked again: In Trump world, why do all roads lead to Putin?
