Pepsi Boyer, an instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, has earned CIW (Certified Internet Web Professional) Site Designer and E-Commerce Designer certification, allowing her to complete the CIW Design Specialist and Master Designer programs.
CIW is the world’s fastest growing vendor-neutral Internet certification program. CIW is a Web technology standard adopted by academic institutions, governments and businesses worldwide. The program includes applications and competencies, while the core curriculum targets the foundational standards that sustain IT infrastructure, such as Web design, security, administration, networking, databases and enterprises.
Boyer, a resident of Kannapolis, has been an RCCC faculty member since 2000. An instructor in RCCC’s Web technologies program, Boyer teaches Web services, e-commerce, multimedia and database-driven Web site classes.
The Web technologies program at RCCC prepares graduates for careers in the information technology field using computers and distributed computing to disseminate and collect information via the Web.
Course work covers the terminology and use of computers, network devices, networks, servers, databases, applications, programming languages, as well as Web applications, site development and design. Graduates should qualify for career opportunities as designers, administrators, or developers in the areas of Web applications, Web sites, Web services and related areas of distributed computing.
